Helping Children Understand Tragedy

The events of last Friday in Connecticut have left me without words.  And yet, words (as well as love, care and attention) are exactly what is needed to help our children manage their thoughts on this difficult situation.  I wrote a blog back in March entitled ‘Helping Children Grieve’ that included several suggestions to help children cope with crisis.  It might be worth a re-read.  I’ve also come across several other websites on the topic, listed below.  

As parents, we’re in the best position to support and provide answers during troubling times. Our children deserve to feel safe and hopeful in a world that includes the incomprehensible.
