Life starts with what you believe

His Method Was Love Not Hate

I’ve been reading some of Martin Luther King Jr’s writings and have felt very challenged……to say the least. His life was the focus of one cause. Justice for all. His hope was that a conviction of the human heart would affect the laws of society. His method was love not hate. In the face of intense persecution, physical and verbal abuse and with the odds stacked against him, he exemplified courage and stayed the course, his example eventually served to reconcile a nation.
Although my challenges seem insignificant in light of Martin Luther King Jr’s, the words he spoke to supporters of the truth have encouraged me to keep working, trusting and believing that He who has begun a good work in me will complete it, in His time and way. I just need to keep marching on.

“I know that you are asking today, ‘How long will it take?’ I come to say to you this afternoon, however difficult the moment, however frustrating the hour, it will not be long because truth pressed to the earth will rise again.
How long?, Not long, because no lie can live forever.
How long?, Not long, because you will reap what you sow.
How long?, Not long, because the arm of the moral universe bends towards justice.
How long?, Not long, because mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord, trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored. He has loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword. His truth is marching on. He has sounded forth the trumpets that shall never call retreat. He is lifting up the hearts of man before the judgment seat. Oh, be swift my soul to answer Him, be jubilant my feet. Our God is marching on. “
